I have a custom brush tip with a texture applied, but tbh every brush performs just about the same. ![]() My brush's precision and spacing are both on auto. "Internal Pool" is at 0% "Swap undo After" is at 2% and the "File Size Limit" is at 10gbs. I have my memory limit set to 65% and performance logging is on. Tried it with and without instant preview, and although instant preview makes brush strokes, well instant every other action gets insufferably slow, and that was the only setting that made any difference. I have tried changing from opengl to angle etc., and went through scaling modes. However if it is an issue of my specs then, well sorry for wasting your time. Not a beast of a pc, but one that has enough power for more impressive things than whatever krita seems to be doing for sure. Sorry if sounded salty, or mad but after looking for solutions for hours and finding nothing I grew a little annoyed. ![]() That's just a few things, I guess there might be plenty of reasons, but let's start with that.Īlrighty then, here I go. so if we figure out why changing layers is slow and the brush will still be slow, we can try to fix that, too. There are also ways to optimize one particular brush - which brush tip to choose, decrease Precision, increase Spacing etc. Give Krita as much as you can in Configure Krita -> Performance. Try actually disabling Instant Preview, I think in some specific circumstances it might work better without it. Try to switch from OpenGL to ANGLE in Configure Krita -> Display. For smaller brushes it is actually better to have Instant Preview off. Instant Preview should make your brushes look "worse" only before the whole stroke gets calculated later it should replace the previewed stroke, so you don't lose any quality. Also the default image size you're working on and ho many layers you use. Also tell us what settings do you have in Configure Krita -> Performance. Please tell us the specifications of your computer: how much RAM do you have, etc. Well, there is still some optimization and such to be made in the future if I remember info from dev blog correctly with some new techniques that are out there. It's mroe abotu HW nowadays than SW in these cases. Other then that it just depends on how large the doc is and what the brush do but Krita is on the same level as other soft when it comes to performance - if anything it's faster than some other programs out there. Have you tried checking your drivers and the latest Krita version with clean install/settings reset and checking settings in Krita: Settings - Configure Krita - Performance and in Display Canvas Graphics Acceleration, checkign what changeing Preferred Renderer does (don't forget to restart) if possible Angle on Windows. I'm using Krita on a fairly not new HW, working with brushes in hundreds of pixels with complex wet and other effects and I'd say it's ok, I've been using PS for 15 years before this and in the meantime I also open Clip Studio Paint and I don't see any problems (well I see in CSP but that's a different matter )). What a lovely passively aggressive message xD.
